About SOUNDAR
Hi, I'm Grégoire
I started producing music in 2013 and DJing soon after. Around 2018 things started to pick up on the artist side, and the same year I joined Panther's Groove as an A&R. I stayed until 2024, then became head of A&R at Distinct Records, the label of Boomerang in Hong Kong, until 2026.
Over those years I worked with artists like James Carter, Old Jim and Tungevaag, and with a lot of talented people who were just getting started. What I'm proudest of is having been part of their growth, and seeing some of them get to the point where they live from their music.
Why I built SOUNDAR
A big part of my week as an A&R went into digging. Hours on Spotify, then on Instagram and TikTok as artists started breaking there. Around 100,000 new tracks come out on streaming platforms every day, and finding the handful that fit your label means listening through a huge amount of music that was never meant for you.
Every hour spent searching was an hour I wasn't spending with the artists I already worked with: giving feedback, planning releases, being around when they needed something.
SOUNDAR is the tool I wanted back then. Every morning it looks for rising artists who match your label's sound and reaches out to them from your own email, in your words. Their demos land in one place, ready for you to listen.
What I want it to change
I want A&Rs and artists to spend their time on what matters: making good music and getting it to the people who'll love it. Time spent polishing a record is always better spent than time lost scrolling.
I also want it to make the industry a little healthier. Labels that have time for their artists build better relationships, give better feedback and make better releases. That's the kind of label SOUNDAR is built for.
If you run a label and want to talk about how you scout today, I'd be happy to hear from you.
